Light the Ner Tamid
at the shrine of the Alter Rebbe, the Baal haTanya
And bring a great light
to the donors and the local Jews who benefit from our activities throughout the year
600 days have passed since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, but in Haditsh the light has been shining all this time.
The holy and special place where the Alter Rebbe, the author of haTanya and Shulchan Aruch haRav, was buried illuminates the darkness of exile for all the Jews of the area and all the Jews of Ukraine.
Despite the disastrous war, Kiryat Rabbeinu haZakan in Haditch never closed its doors for one day!
The kashrut supervisors, the security team, the kitchen team, the cleaners and the other workers showed up every morning for their shift to serve the Jews who visit the holy place, as if there is no war going on and as if the financial situation wasn’t unbearable.
Despite impossibly heavy expenses, the Chabad House in Kiryat Rabbeinu haZakan under the management of the devoted shliach Rabbi Schneur Zalman Deutsch carried on in the last two years all the important activities that began a decade and a half ago: Torah classes and Jewish seminars, organizing the holidays and holiday meals, prayers and lectures. For the Jews living in the 12 villages and large towns in the district, Kiryat Rabbeinu haZakan in Haditsh is their connection to Judaism.
The shrine of the Baal haTanya is open as always for thousands of Ukrainian Jews and a handful of brave people from the Holy Land and the world who view it as a holy place where anyone can come and pray.
In addition to the candles lit in honor of the Alter Rebbe and other souls in this place, there is another light that always remains lit in the shrine. This is the Ner Tamid about which the Rebbe Rashab commanded his son Rav Yosef Yitzchak: "Concerning Haditsh...there should always be a Ner Tamid lit with pure olive oil ...and it also should not be left unguarded." The shrine has a Ner Tamid of burning olive oil around the clock, and it is neither abandoned nor unguarded.
Precisely now, during the present difficult time, donate to the Ner Tamid at the shrine of the Alter Rebbe and to the local Chabad House to ensure the security and upkeep of this holy place that reaches hundreds of Jews in the area. One will be blessed with everything good!
