The novel Coronavirus reminds us that life is more than a game. Under normal circumstances, the Olympics showcase and celebrate heroic feats of humanity. Today, with the COVID-19 pandemic, everything has changed.
The Olympics have been postponed. Dreams have been put on hold. Athletes across the country, whose entire lives and aspirations have been to honor and represent their country at the Games, are suddenly in limbo.
They cannot train. They cannot fund themselves. They cannot celebrate the heroism and victory of humanity.
Or, perhaps, now they can more than ever! Perhaps with your participation and partnership, the heroism, perseverance, fortitude, grace and valor of humanity can shine brighter than gold!
Founded in response to the severe challenges impacting Olympic and Paralympic athlete communities nationwide, the US Athletes Hopeful Emergency Fund (USAHEF) provides short-term financial assistance to U.S. athletes facing significant financial hardship with an initial focus on those impacted by COVID-19.
Our founder, Chris, created The USAHEF because he was tired of seeing U.S. athletes launch GoFundMe pages to meet their financial obligations in order to represent Team USA at the Olympics. If it wasn’t for crowdfunding, many athletes would be unable to afford some of their biggest expenses, like travel, training camps, and entry fees for competitions to adequately prepare to qualify for the Olympic Games. Unfortunately, Olympic sports are not generally looked at as TRUE professional sports and have a select few athletes who are NBA, MLB, NFL, or NHL-level earners. Without a formal relief fund in place, we are in danger of losing some of our most talented U.S. athletes.
Every dollar you give to The USAHEF does more than support a dream; it helps all of us fight back against the Coronavirus by reminding us of the infinite possibilities of humankind.
We can do anything. We can give more. We can run faster. We can jump higher. We can throw further. We can lift great weights. We can hurdle any obstacle. We can and will achieve gold!
