Yedidia Azougi, 21 years old, fell in the battle in the Gaza Strip on the 21 of Iyar 5784, 29/5/2024.
Yedidia (Didi) grew up in Revava in the Shomron.
In March 2022, he enlisted to the paratroopers in the 101 Battalion, where he served in a variety of positions, including as a platoon commander until he fell as a sergeant of the mobility department.
Yedidia was peaceful and quiet, and it radiated out with strength. It was very difficult to upset him.
Without making an effort and only with a smile on his face he managed to be loved by everyone who met him. He was immensely loved by his family and friends.
Says little and does a lot modestly and humbly as to not stand out despite his greatness.
On October 10th, Yedidia was with our whole family in Sderot at his brother's house. As soon as he realized what was happening, he took his personal weapon and together with his brother went towards the police, "Mom, they need us."
That's what he said to his mother when she asked where they were going. He was miraculously saved when was being shot at as he was entering the car together with the local security personnel and together they drove twords the police.
Yedidia was par of the rescue of the two girls whose parents were murdered at the police station and then brought them to his older brother's house where they stayed with the whole family until Sunday.
There he already went to protect the surrounding settlements in the Gaza envelope.
Since the start of the war he fought in Gaza where he served until he was killed.
Yedidia in his personality was able to sweep his soldiers after him, in his last role as a mobility sergeant he was responsible for evacuating the wounded and professionally managed to shorten the evacuation times surprisingly.
Yedidia was adventurous and curious, he loved to travel in Israel and knew every corner of the Shomron and the Jordan Valley from his trips with his dirt bike.
On vacations from the army he rode alone or in a group, and enjoyed discovering new paths and routes, springs and viewpoints and would share the discoverings with his friends and family happily.
We- the family, feel the need to continue the light of Yedidia.
The peacefulness and quiet together with the nature that he loved so much in the construction of a commemorative park in his memory that will include hiking trails, water springs, viewpoints and explanations of the area.
A place that will give, like Yedidia, peace, joy and pleasure to visitors and everyone around.
Yedidya was buried in the land of the Shomron, in the land that he was so connected to and felt our obligation to hold on to and to settle, and it is our mission to continue his will and settle the land of the Shomron in the most amazing way and to build a park that will include in it strength, continuity, and hope!
