Almost two years ago, a permanent Chabad house was established in the shire of Byron for the first time ever.

Rabbi Tomer and Inbar Rachel Ben-Harosh have come there with their family to open a Jewish home to the hundreds of Jews living in the area.

And to the many Israelis who frequent that beautiful area of Australia.

The Chabad House is located in the luscious green region and offers warm hospitality on Shabbat and holidays to every Jewish person.

We renovated the building and turned it into a place of prayer, study, hospitality, and weekly minyanim. Shiurim are also held there regularly. Torah and Chassidic lessons are given in groups and privately.

We provide Challah for Shabbat, kosher food, and deliveries to hospitals, elderly people, new mothers and anyone who needs it.

For the many travellers who come, we are currently setting up a cosy corner that includes kitchen and shower facilities, where they can come to and feel at home.

A rich, varied after school program was opened for the children in the community to study our traditions, holidays and the Hebrew language!

There are also events and programmes for children every Jewish holiday and Camp Gan Israel in the summer!

In addition, there is a Bar Mitzvah and Bat Mitzvah program, including wonderful celebrations in which dozens of children have already taken part!
