We are the Rehabilitation & Acute Stroke (RAS) Unit and Rehabilitation Day Therapy Unit (RDTU)!
Join us as we fundraise for the Rehabilitation Path to Recovery.
The Prince Charles Rehabilitation and Acute Stroke (RAS) Unit provides essential rehabilitation healthcare to over 400 patients each year. This service allows people to recover from conditions including stroke, falls, heart and lung transplants, hip and knee replacements, fractures, heart surgery, other neurological conditions and return home to the local community sooner.
We are hoping to further enhance the experience for our patients by seeking community support to design and create a therapeutic outdoor area for use by patients and their relatives/carers.
Our vision includes a wheelchair accessible covered seated area, beautiful gardens, home and community environment practice areas including sliding doors, paths, curbs and gates. Most importantly, this will be an outdoor areas which will enable our patient to enjoy the fresh air and temporarily escape the hospital environment.
We know that fresh air, sunshine and a purpose driven space helps aid physical, emotional, and psychological recovery whilst also providing a space for improved social interaction in a natural setting.
Natural settings are incredibly important to allow for sleep/ wake cycle regulation as well as allowing for the practice of day to day outdoor tasks that are essential to a patient’s daily life.
Our team is working hard to bring this vision to life and we hope that you will join us!
