They Managed To Escape, But Now What?
Thousands of Ukrainian citizens have been forced to leave their homes, in fear of their lives, with bombs falling and no idea of where this war is heading.
The closest and easiest location to reach is Ukraine's border country, Moldova. The Moldovan borders are packed with more and more busloads of refugees entering the country each day.
The vast majority of the refugees don't know where they are headed from Moldova. They left their homes and lives behind, and are now lost.
Chabad and Moldova have stepped in to play a huge role in assisting the refugees. Firstly, they are at the border, greeting the refugees, directing them, and giving them food. Most of all, giving them hope, and making sure that they know that despite everything going on, and despite the fact that they have nothing with them and nowhere to go, Chabad of Moldova is there for them and is making sure that each refugee is taken care of.
As Sveta, a refugee from Kiev, put it: “Chabad of Moldova saved us! We ran from our home in Kiev, and traveled for over 50 hours with our two little children. As soon as we reached Moldova, Chabad was there to help us with our every need. They even made sure our children had toys to play with! We are forever grateful."
Chabad of Moldova has already set up five refugee sites, providing the refugees with shelter, food, clothing, and whatever else is needed. Additionally, Chabad has rented out numerous hotel suites, which most organizations are not doing.
Our volunteer staff already numbers at more than 40 volunteers, in addition to our kitchen staff. 3500 meals are being served a day, and so much manpower is needed to keep up with all the arrangements for all of the refugees. Our team and volunteer staff have been working countless hours and put in many sleepless nights, focusing on making sure that each refugee is properly cared for.
Please open up your hearts for our brothers and sisters and donate now!
Please help us to be able to help them.
