In one moment Rabbi Meir Cohen's ע"ה life collapsed.
Last Tuesday morning started out as a completely normal day but in the middle of the day he suddenly experienced a cardiac event that caused the systems to collapse and he returned his soul to its creator.
Ten children are left without a father.
Rabbi Meir's life and that of his children has not been easy. A few years ago, after a serious illness, he lost his first wife, Riki ע"ה, and was left alone with six children.
He later married Shira Shathai, who had four children of her own, whom she had raised by herself until then, after their father, Eitan ע"ה, also passed away after a long illness.
Together, Rabbi Meir ע"ה and Shira, may she live a long life, raised the ten children.
And now tragedy struck again. Six children were left without a father and without a mother. Four children lost the father figure in their lives again.
Ten children who, after all these tragedies, need to eat, study, grow and develop, and with God's help, get married and build their own home.
How will they do this?!
There is no substitute for a father and mother. The grandparents, uncles and aunts, will take care of them and wrap them in lots of love and care.
But with love you can’t pay for groceries, and it doesn't buy clothes either. And of course you can't pay with it for the hall, catering, photography or the furniture store.
This is where we come in.
It is the duty and responsibility of all of us to do our best for the orphans, to give them financial stability that will allow them to continue their lives without financial stress, at the very least.
Lets come together now and be there for them.
We will make sure to bring them some financial peace, some light in the darkness to ease their lives.
Let’s follow the Rebbe's words: "צריכה להיות השתדלות של כל אחד ואחת מהם שיחיו להמתיק חיי היתומים שליט"א" (תורת מנחם, מנחם ציון) -
Let's make life sweeter for them!
