They Managed To Escape, But What do they do Now?
Thousands of Orphaned Ukrainians have been forced to leave their orphanage, their home, in fear of their lives, with bombs falling and no idea of where this war is heading.
That's when Rabbiner Teichtal of Chabad in Berlin was asked to host the orphans. The Rabbi and the entire community responded with open arms!
A new place, a new city, a new country, there are orphans calling the dining hall home for several nights, while most orphans and their staffers are currently in a hotel, availability is limited.
3 Meals a day for 250 children and staff is overwhelming to say the least! This past Tuesday another 150 orphans managed to flee war-torn Ukraine and arrived safely in Berlin.
The orphans are being welcomed warmly by the amazing staff at Chabad and the warm members of the Berlin Jewish Community. They are learning to cope with a new normal and a new life. Although they are scared, distraught and confused, their spirits are mostly high and happy to be with their orphanage.
The costs however are beginning to mount to astronomical proportions, with needs being met from shelter to food, clothing, and everything in between, we simply cannot keep up.
So we are turning to you, generous supporters and those that seek peace in a crazy world: Support an orphan for a day, week, or month. Even a meal, every donation is crucial.
With more than 1200 meals being served we have launched this campaign to help serve 400+ orphans and staffers survive the next 3 months.
Thank you for your gracious generosity!

A letter from the Rabbi
Dear Friends
Thank you so much for your concern and dedication, it's truly a source of encouragement in this challenging hour. The situation is dramatic and moving day by day.
A week ago we started the rescue operation to save the Jewish orphanage established by Rabbi Avraham Wolf of Odessa Ukraine, in a 52 hour bus ordeal traveling through five countries, we managed to bring 120 children from the orphanage with their staff to Berlin.
By the end of the week the invading Russian army has cut off electricity and water in certain parts of Odessa. This has caused us to make a quick decision to send out another group of 130 mothers and children to Berlin.
Through a miracle they managed to cross the border into the European Union and are now in safe hands in Berlin
There are now 250 refugees orphans single mothers and children in Berlin to take care of.
The children are being cared for by their counselors and caretakers that took care of them in the orphanage until now, so they have a clear trustful relationship with them.
In the past week medical doctors and mental health professionals visited with them to make sure that they are healthy and strong physically and emotionally.
The plan is for them to start normal school and receive a proper education.
The children are receiving cooked kosher meals daily and are being taken care of by the professional staff and vetted volunteers
Last week the president of Germany Frank Walter Steinmeier visited with the children, it was a beautiful emotional two hour visit.
We urgently need help cover the costs, the burden is huge, we need your help to cover these costs.
Please considor to support a child for a day, a week a month, support multiple children, or any amount that you can. Every dollar or Eirot goes straight to the children.
All proceeds go directly to the children. There are no overhead or administrative costs whatsoever.
Please note that both accounts in the US and in Germany have tax-deductible nonprofit status, any donation made will receive will receive a government recognized Tax deductible receipt.
Thank you
Rabbi Yehuda Teichtal
