Distressing cries are echoing from the street corners of Yerushalayim!
Thousands of our poverty-stricken brothers and sisters in the Holy Land are frantically calling out to us, desperately pleading for our help during these unprecedented times.
The Kollel Shomrei Hachomos Charity fund of Reb Meir Baal Haness has been known for nearly two centuries as the backbone of our impoverished brethren in Eretz Yisroel, aiding them with their financial hardships through the many programs they operate.
But dear Yidden, our brothers in Eretz Yisroel are currently experiencing an economic meltdown of epic proportions; hundreds of once-successful people are currently unable to make ends meet, thousands of businesses shuttered, tens of thousands of employees let go, thousands upon thousands of little children going to sleep hungry night after night. THE SITUATION IS ABSOLUTELY UNBEARABLE!
What ensued is thousands of applications flowing into our offices from helpless families pleading for financial assistance:
- Monetary assistance for new widows and their heartbroken orphans
- Financial assistance with covering wedding expenses
- Assistance with expenses following the birth of a newborn baby
- Accepting new Torah scholars into the Kollelim so they can feed their family with the meager stipends.
Unfortunately, all these piles of applications remain unanswered!
Yes, we sent millions of dollars to cover all of our existing obligations. Every penny of Kollel stipends, or payroll for the hundreds of Rebbeim in the chadarim and Yeshivas were paid in full. All existing responsibilities were covered to the tune of many millions of dollars.
However, when it comes to the new applications, we are currently helpless!
How can we look into their pleading eyes and turn them away?
The answer is WE CANNOT!
That’s why we have no choice but to take this historic measure and reach out to the global Jewish community and beg for help on behalf of our destitute brothers and sisters in Eretz Yisroel.
