Bikur Cholim’s mission of Healing Through Kindness brings the community together to give critically ill patients and their families whatever assistance they need to get through a medical challenge.
Your generosity enables us to assist with medical bills and provider fees, household support for families in crisis, critical mental health services, childcare, meals, transportation, post-natal and post-surgical convalescence care, short term hospitality stay, and many other critical areas of assistance.
We are facing unprecedented demand. The needs of the community have significantly increased for two main reasons: first, Crown Heights continues to grow by leaps and bounds; but more importantly, due to the tremendous work of our volunteers, Bikur Cholim of Crown Heights has become a first point of contact for many Crown Heights families. In short, as a function of our ‘success’ in alleviating the suffering of those in medical crisis, we have many more people relying on us than before.
This past year we distributed over $915,000 in financial aid for critical medical expenses to over 1300 individuals affected by illness! This does not even include the myriad of non-monetary volunteer services or the 23 families that stayed in Hadassah’s Place.
Our capacity to respond has always been directly tied to the funds we raised. Whatever we collect, we immediately distribute. The need now is greater than ever, so we need your help!
With an all-volunteer board who operate with almost no overhead, and an outstanding team of volunteers from the community, you can be confident that every dollar donated to Bikur Cholim goes directly to helping patients in the community.
